Expat? Moving to Vienna: Language/Schools (Part 2)
What to consider?
In Austria (and so is of course Vienna) the main language is German. This is especially important if you have kids and want to apply for school (university or a job).
So – if German is no problem for your family – here is an official side about Austrian schools:
https://www.schule.at/portale.html
If you want to know which school-type is available in the district you are planning to live – just make the selection of schooltype (german: Schulart) and the district (german: Bezirk) – and you get a list of available schools – which you then can go more into detail by clicking on them:

If German is your mother tongue – or you just want to give your kids to a top-ranked school in Vienna for one or two years….
Very popular schools in this context are:
Not easy to get access to the school. Very demanding international school, but great education!. Bilingual EuropeClass. (Make sure you contact them early enough if you want your child to go there.)

International school with access to SacreCoeur school-system worldwide. Catholic organized. Like at the Theresianum there is one Europe-Class.

Very traditional Austrian School. Education, Believe in God and Knowledge are their principles. Again not very easy to get access – so try to contact them for a personal meeting.

Of course there are also a number of multi-lingual schools available here in Vienna – offering pre-primary, primary and secondary education.
Here are some good examples:
- Vienna International School; Straße der Menschenrechte 1 | 1220 Vienna

- American International School Vienna; Salmannsdorfer Straße 47, 1190 Vienna
